This project was for our own home.  A good friend and mentor gave me some wood from his family barn that was recently torn down in Moran, Kansas.  I also got some scrap metal and wanted to build something that combined old and new (plus I really needed a new TV Console).

We welded up the scrap metal into a frame.  This was my initial foray into welding and I have to say I don’t know how I lived so long without knowing how to weld.

The boards were de-nailed and glued up to form the various shelves.  Then rough assembled before taking the frame to be sand-blasted and powder coated.

It’s amazing how a good sand-blasting and powder coating can really make a piece shine.  The finished product proudly holds my various electronics and celebrates the fusion of old and new.
